In these verses Christ Jesus gives His disciples instructions for how to bring the good news of the Kingship of God to others. After appointing 72 He sent them out in pairs, to every town and place where He was about to go.Hetold them:
When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ or Connect & Bless. Wecan't invite anyone to find wholeness in Jesus, until we have connected with them.
Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. Build Fellowship. Bringing people to wholeness in Christ Jesus begins with building relationship with them.
Heal the sick who are there or Help them by answering their felt needs. Every-one needs compassion, everyone needs a helping hand in life. The kindness of a Saviour is shown in the love of His people giving food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, prayer for God's help, etc.
Then some people will be ready to listen to the good news and we can tell them, the kingdom of God has come near you.
We pray that others will catch the vision and walk with us in various ways, as Christ’s workers in His Father’s harvest field.
Discerned through prayerful reflection we see the Haven’s kingdom mission expressed in these 6 practices: BEING:
A place of presence: simply being in the market place in the presence of Christ is itself a testimony to God’s love.
A place of kindness:offering a warm welcome, a listening ear, and prayer for wholeness.
A place of kingdom connection: We are not the only Christian stall holders, being in the indoor market offers an opportunity to support each other in the living out of our faith as well as working with the people of peace in the market, staff and management.
A place for presentation: An indoor stall, open for up to 3 days a week, generates new possibilities, which could offer local Christian organisations occasions to show their activities for God’s glory, to the world and to make contact with people.
A place for transformation:Like Israel in Babylon praying for the prosperity of the market, as well as supporting Churches and Christian organisations in transforming the market and Oswestry into kingdom communities.
A place for building Church togetherness: Visitors to the Haven stall often expect it to be the expression of a particular local church and rejoice to discover it is an expression of churches acting together. John 17:20-21 being important to the purpose and life of the Haven.
“My prayer” Jesus said, “is not for the apostles alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
